It’s the same every year. The Christmas holiday season rolls around and there are so many yummy things to eat everywhere. But if you’re anything like me you might find that once the fun is over all your clothes are feeling just a little bit tight.
So I got to thinking about fitness classes and it turns out there are lots of them round Rangiora. Here’s a few options if you’re looking for ways to get active.
Stretch n’ Tone – Fernside Hall – Tuesdays at 6.30pm. This class incorporates elements of yoga and pilates and is suitable for all levels. Cost $10 per class. Call Mandy on 021 494 452 to book a space.
Boot Camp classes – These are general fitness and involve press ups, squats, lots of strength work and running. Suitable for all levels and a great, fun way to get fit outdoors. General classes: Mondays and Wednesdays 6pm and Saturdays 8.30am. There’s also a Mums n’ Bubs boot camp at 1pm on Wednesdays in Good Street Park. Cost $10 per class. Call Janna on 021 166 6572 for more details.
Yoga – Manaia Yoga and Wellbeing Centre, Merton Road – This looks like a great new yoga studio just outside town with a full range of classes to suit all levels. There’s a 12 week beginners course as well as mixed, general and restorative yoga classes. If you just want to see whether yoga is for you or not, then you can buy a concession card for $26 that allows you to attend three classes. Check out their website here.
Zumba – These popular fitness/dance classes are at Ohoka Hall, Wednesdays 7pm. It’s $82 for a concession card that covers you for 11 classes. Check out their website here for more details.
Step, Bodypump, Bodybalance, RPM – All of these classes are available at McAlpines Mitre 10 Sports Centre, Rangiora. You don’t have to be a member of the gym to attend the classes and they offer a 10 class concession card for $85 and it is valid for 12 months. Alternatively, just pay a casual attendance fee of $13. No need to book except for the RPM cycle class. Tel: 03 975 5556.
