It’s all about an autumn feel this weekend and it kicks off early. As well as the events listed below, don’t forget there are also the regulars on – this week that includes Rangiora Community Market on Saturday morning, Oxford Market on Sunday morning and also Oxford Craft Market this Sunday.
Friday 4th April – Clarkville School Twilight Gala – I spotted a little flyer for this recently. It’s free entry – there’s a white elephant if you’re looking for bargains, bouncy castle, kids’ sideshows and live music as well as yummy foods. Might be worth a visit. Clarkville School, 10 Heywards Road, Clarkville – 4pm to 7pm.
Saturday 5th April – Rangiora Harvest Festival – This looks like a fun morning with lots for the kids. There’ll be apple bobbing, autumn leaves to jump in and of course, there’s a free kids’ market so they can come and sell anything they like with no charge for a stall. Although, they do need to bring their own table. A great chance for them to perhaps fundraise or just find out what it’s like to be a shopkeeper. Rangiora High Street, 10am to 1pm.
Saturday 5th April – Kids’ Pumpkin Competition – This is at Mitre 10 in Rangiora, but it’s actually a nationwide competition. Pitch up around 12.30ish and get your pumpkin weighed in the garden centre area. Staff will announce winner and give prizes after 1pm. Mitre 10, Southbrook Road, Rangiora. You can find out more and register online here.
Sunday 6th April – Kids’ Fishing Competition – A chance for kids between 3 and 15 years of age to take part in this competition organised by the Kaiapoi Club. Entry fee between 50c and $1. Kaiapoi Wharf, 10am.
Sunday 6th April – Rangiora Harness Racing – Race meeting at the Rangiora Harness Club. What can you expect? Horses, racing, you can take a picnic and make it a family day out. Plus it’s free entry, so if you’ve never seen harness racing why not pop along and take a look? You might enjoy it. 312 Lehmans Road, Rangiora, first race at 11.30am.
