If you’re one of those people that finds keeping fit a little bit…well, boring.  Then I hear you.  Endless hours on an exercise bike or pounding the pavements after work – let’s face it, it’s not for all of us.

That’s precisely why Crossfit should appeal to people says Alex Etherington, Rangiora based Crossfit trainer.  It doesn’t get boring because it’s varied and you don’t spend a long time on any one thing.  It incorporates things like running, weight lifting, kettle bells, rowing, etc.  So it stops that ‘boredom factor’.

And, done right, it can change lives.  Alex himself says he was unfit, unhealthy and overweight when he first came across Crossfit.  He’d previously tried going to the gym and running but just couldn’t get excited by it.   But Crossfit got him hooked and got him fit.  And it inspired him to become a certified Crossfit trainer himself.

He currently runs classes for beginners on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6pm.  They are suitable for most levels of fitness he says.  New starters have to complete these beginner classes before moving on to the standard classes.  Standard classes are Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays at 6.45am for the early risers but there is also a later class at 7.15pm.

Alex is currently offering a free trial class to anyone who thinks they might like to try Crossfit.  So you can find out what it’s all about and whether you like it, before you have to spend any money.

That definitely sounds worth a try.
