Torlesse Park Littlies' Slide

Torlesse Park Littlies’ Slide

So the playground at Victoria Park is closed this week for maintenance.  Oh I know they have to maintain it, but where am I supposed to go with my kiddo and a coffee to pass an hour or so?  Victoria Park playground is my default location.

So I decided to check out some other options.  Here’s what I found:

Torlesse Park – Johns Road, heading south from roundabout with King Street.  This is quite a small little spot but the playground bit is great.  All new equipment with climbing frame, swing bridges, etc for older kids and a great litle slide and tube for the littlies.  There are swings and a picnic table and benches for mum to sit down with coffee

Good Street - Better for slightly older kids

Good Street Reserve – Good Street, not far past the museum on the left hand side.  Quite a good open, grassy space with climbing frame, couple of slides, swings, etc.  There’s also a basketball hoop for older kids.  But it’s actually not a great set up for the very littlies – there’s only one swing that has the infant seat with strap across and the slides are all on the large side with ladders and platforms up to them.

Elephant Park – This is on Blackett Street, north of the roundabout with King Street.  It’s a cute little park and a good set up for younger kids as there are little safe bouncy things they can sit on and two of the seat swings.  Some of the equipment looks a little bit older – but hey it all works and that’s the main thing.  I like the elephant theme although there’s something a bit disturbing about the face on that big pink one.  Kids will love it though.
