If you’re a fan of the vintage trend, then next time you’re in Oxford you might want to try out Pink Sugar. Next to Jo Seagar’s, it’s a cutesy, pinky, vintagey tea room. It was too late for me unfortunately, I’d already had coffee further down the road and I didn’t know this place was there. But I popped in to have a look at what’s on offer.
It’s light and airy inside with wood floors and plenty of the kind of pretty pinky stuff you’d expect from a vintage style tea room. Behind the counter shelves stretch to the ceiling full of delicate floral teacups, pretty little saucers, milk jugs and teapots. It’s certainly eye-catching. And the place was busy for a Thursday morning.
Foodwise there looked like a good range of cabinet foods, including some lovely little cupcakes with twirly icing. There are sandwich selections and tasting plates of savouries if you can’t choose one thing. There are even Devonshire teas with scones and clotted cream. I can’t remember the last time I tasted clotted cream – it sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen.
But if you want to really do the whole tea experience then they also do vintage high teas which includes delicate little finger sandwiches and sweet treats. (You need to book in advance for those and they’re $27 per person).
You can find out more at their website Pink Sugar.
