Like it or not, Christmas is nearly here and there’s a stack of fun things going on in the area to get you in the Christmas spirit.
Santa’s Grotto – The Pavillion at Rangiora Showgrounds – This runs from 5th to 14th December and sounds fab – a chance to see Santa in his grotto and check out the winter village theme that they’ve gone with this year. The opening gala evening on Friday 5th will also have live entertainment, stalls, food and raffles. Entry is $2 and photos with Santa are $10. Open weekends from 10am to 8pm, weekdays from 10am to 12 and 4pm to 8pm.
Kaiapoi Carnival and Santa Parade – Williams Street, Kaiapoi – Sat 6th Dec – 9am to 3pm – There will be market and community stalls, live entertainment and fun for all the family . The Santa Parade will start at 11am.
Christmas Wonderland – Oxford Showgrounds – 11th Dec to 24th Dec – Festive displays, decorated Christmas trees and a Santa. $2 entry fee. It’s open 2pm to 8pm weekdays and 11am to 8pm weekends.
Party in Victoria Park – Rangiora – Sun 14th Dec – 12 to 5pm — Food, stalls and fun activities in the park so you can pop down and have a bit of lunch before watching the parade.
Rangiora Toyota Santa Parade – High Street, Rangiora – starts at 2pm – There will be over 50 floats this year as well as vintage cars, fire engines and Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Rangiora Celebration Night – Thurs 18th Dec – 5pm to 9pm – The shops will be open, there’ll be free gift wrapping and extra Christmas stalls out in the High Street. The road will be closed to cars so you can wonder about freely. There’ll be entertainment from a barber’s shop quartet and a jazz band, amongst others. And if you’re in the mood – go along in your best Christmas costume and you might get to parade along the catwalk and win a spot prize. Sounds like a great chance to do some last minute shopping.
Christmas Parade and Picnice – Sun 21st Dec – 12.30pm – Main Street, Oxford – This Christmas parade has a superheroes theme this year. See if you can spot your favourite superhero.
