Plenty on this weekend especially if you want to get in the Christmas mood.
Friday 5th – 4pm to 8pm – Gala opening night of the Ashgrove School Santa’s Grotto – Pavillion at Rangiora A & P Showgrounds – Apart from the chance to see Santa, this gala night offers a heap of other stuff. There are stalls and food, raffles and trampolilnes, music and carols to get you in the festive mood. However, the grotto is open till the 14th, so you can still go along and see all the decorations and the winter village theme, etc if you can’t make it tonight. Entry fee is $2.
Friday 5th – 5pm – West Eyreton School Christmas Twilight Fete – This sounds like it could be quite fun. Lots of stalls but also pony rides and alpaca patting, an inflatable slide, face painting, kids jumble stalls and homemade treats.
Saturday 6th – 9am to 3pm – Kaiapoi Carnival and Santa Parade – This is going to be a big family, fun day with entertainment, music, clowns and fairies, rides and attractions. They’re also running a silent auction with some great prizes. And of course, there’s the parade which is happening at 11am. So head down and join in the fun.
Sunday 7th – 2pm – Christmas Concert from Rangiora Community Choir – at Rangiora Methodist Church – It’s Christmas, you’ve got to have some carols right? $5. Afternoon tea included.
Sunday 7th – 5pm to 7pm – Christmas in the Park at Rice Park, Clarkville – Small community event with old fashioned races for the kids and family entertainment.
