Littlies seem to love a bit of music and dancing and it can be a great way for them to learn all sorts of skills. There are a few different groups that offer music and movements sessions around Rangiora and Kaiapoi. Here are some options for you:
Dance Baby Dance – This is a session for preschoolers held at Acorn Early Childcare, Judsons Road, Woodend. 10am to 11am Tuesdays and it starts up again on 3rd Feb next week. There’s music and singing and movements that go with the songs and lots of repetition during the term – which is always good. The sessions work for both babies and older preschoolers. No need to book you can just rock up and it’s a gold coin donation.
Mini Movers Group – This is held every 2 weeks at 86 Victoria Street, Rangiora and it’s free. It runs from 10.30am to 11.30am and is suitable for all preschool ages. No need to book and no fee. They haven’t confirmed their start date yet, but it looks like they will be holding the sessions on Wednesdays this year and the likely start date looks to be Feb 11th. But confirm with the group organiser – Karyn – on 03 313 1719 if you are thinking of heading along.
Tumbling Toddlers – Yes, it’s not strictly a music group, but there’s plenty of chance for movement and they do have a little music session usually towards the end. Probably better for slightly older littlies that are getting to grips with walking, co-ordination, etc. It’s at Southbrook School Hall, Rangiora and it runs from 9.30am to 10.30am on Wednesdays and the new term starts tomorrow. $4 per family.
Mainly Music in Rangiora starts up again next Wednesday 4th Feb at 10am at the Trinity Methodist Church on King Street. Gold coin donation.
There are also Mainly Music sessions in Kaiapoi but I haven’t been able to confirm when these will restart yet. I’ll update this post when I do, but it looks like one of the Wednesday ones will be the week starting the 9th Feb.
