It’s the looooonnnnnnggggg weekend. The weather forecast isn’t too flash, but there’s plenty on so get out and enjoy. Just take a spare fleece with you.
Waitangi Day Family Celebrations – Trousselot Park in Kaiapoi – Friday 10am to 2pm. I went along to this last year and it was quite interesting. Obviously a lot depends on the weather. But they’re promising music, kids’ entertainment and activities to celebrate NZ’s indigenous culture. Could be worth a visit.
Kids Eat Free on Waitangi Day – Book a table for breakfast or lunch at Reality Bites cafe (in the Gables, Rangiora) and they’re offering a free kid’s meal with every adult meal purchased. A thrifty way to take the family for brunch and their food is terrific.
Ohoka Market will be on Friday morning at the Ohoka Domain 9am to 12.30pm. And also the Rangiora Twilight Market – corner of Oxford and Merton Road will be on as usual from 4pm to 8pm Friday.
Harness Racing at Rangiora Racecourse on Friday – Gates open at 9am at Rangiora Racecourse on Lehmans Road. There’ll be races (first on at 12 midday) but also plenty of family entertainment, food stalls and things to keep the kids happy. Adults $10 and under 18s are free.
Rangiora Community Market and Car Boot Sale – Saturday 8.30am till 12.30 at St John’s Church on the corner of High Street and Church Street. If you’re looking for a bargain this could be worth popping along to, I always check it out if I’m passing and have picked up a couple of good toys. One man’s junk is another man’s treasure I guess.
