It’s the weekend again…yeay.  So, there’s the usual Friday markets this week – Ohoka in the morning, Rangiora Twilight market in the evening.  Then there’s also some stuff on if you’re looking for things to do.

Sat 21st Feb – Aoraki Dragons – Dragon Boat Regatta – Lake Rua, North Christchurch – This was going to take place at Pegasus but since they discovered toxic algae in the water down there, they’ve had to change venues.  Apparently Lake Rua is down near Belfast.  Might be fun to watch.  Races start at 10am.

Sat 21st Feb – Family Picnic – Pearson Park, Oxford – 10am to 2.30pm – Lots of kiddies stuff – face painting, bouncy castle, pony rides, a clown, a storyteller and something called the “hammer challenge” which sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

Sun 22nd Feb – Party in the Park – 11am to 2pm in Victoria Park, Rangiora –  Organised by the Thrive church this an event for the community with lots of things to keep the kiddies happy – pony rides, live entertainment, sausage sizzle and they’re promising ‘all the bouncy fun you can imagine’…so i’m guessing there’ll be a bouncy castle.  All the rides are free and if the sun is out this should be a fun thing to head to with littlies.

Sun 22nd Feb – Cust Market, Cust – 10am to 2pm  – Last time I popped along to this once a month market it was pretty small but there were a few stalls selling produce, plants, cakes, etc.  Stop in if you’re passing through Cust but i wouldn’t make a trip just to go there.

Sun 22nd Feb – Ashley  Domain, Ashley – 4 – 5.30pm – Church in the Country are organising this family friendly event.  There’ll be fun activities like lolly scramble, pancake tossing and water pistols as well apparently.  Gold coin entry.
