A real mixed bag of stuff on this weekend….fishing, markets, cats….
If you missed the Kaiapoi Twilight Market on Thursday, the Ohoka market on Friday morning and the Rangiora Twilight Market on Friday afternoon…don’t worry, pop down and check out the the Kaiapoi Farmers’ Market on Saturday morning from 9am to 12 midday. This week there are also going to be council staff there, including the Mayor and Community Board Member Chris Greengrass, so that people can discuss the Council Long Term Plan 2015 – 2025 for Waimak. Now, I’ll admit, that’s not a sentence that gets my pulse racing, but it’s good to take an interest in these things – it’s too late to start moaning when they build a motorway outside your back garden.
There are some fancy schmancy cats on show at the Kaiapoi Club on Sunday from 9am to 4pm – free admission. Plus there’s Jazz in the Park at Trousselot Park on Sunday evening from 5pm to 9pm. If the weather holds up that could be quite a nice way to round off the weekend, with a picnic and a bit of a jazz.
If the kids are into fishing then it’s also the children’s annual fishing comp in Kaiapoi on Sunday. It’s open to kids 3 – 15 years and it’s a 50c or $1 entry fee depending on age. Runs from 11am to 1pm at Kaiapoi River – opposite New World by the i-site building.
Further afield there’s a community fun day in Cust on Sunday from 11 to 2 at St David’s Church on the Main Road. There’s going to be a bouncy castle, face-painting and archery.
