Well, it’s Easter weekend and it looks like everyone must be leaving town…because honestly, there’s not a whole lot happening around the Waimak. So here are your rather limited choices.
This evening is looking sunny and lovely, a great time to head down and check out the Kaiapoi Twilight Market – 5pm to 8pm on corner of Williams and Charles Streets. Should be a lovely evening down there – grab some tea and browse the stalls.
On Friday evening it’s all happening at Woodford Glen with the Modified Invasion and Ramp Race Demo Derby. The action starts Good Friday and concludes with the crowd pleasing ramp race demolition derby on Easter Saturday. It’s a 6pm start on Friday and a family ticket (2 adults and 4 kids under 14) is just $35. For full details check out their website.
Saturday is the Rangiora Car Boot Sale and Community Market, 8.30am to 12.30pm at St John’s Church hall on High Street (up past the Caltex Station). There’s also a wee cafe there where you can grab a cuppa and a snack. Over in Kaiapoi there’ll also be the weekly farmers market on Charles Street, it runs from 9am.
Of course it’s also the Oxford A & P Show on Saturday, if you’re looking for a big day out. It’s the 110th year of the show and it runs from 8am to 4pm at the Oxford Show Grounds. Adults $10 and kids are free.
If you fancy a bit of a drive, then there’s an art weekend on at Castle Hill Village. It includes lots of events – with workshops, kids’ crafts and even an easter egg hunt. Check out their website for full details.
