Tonight, Friday, was going to be the the Oxford Area Schools Observatory open night but that’s postponed till tomorrow, Saturday. I’m guessing even the best telescope isn’t going to see through the clouds and on their website it says they’re worried about ice, etc on roads with the current weather. Check out their site for any further updates if you are planning to head out there tomorrow evening.
It’s perfect weather however for the Mid-Winter Splash tomorrow in Rangiora. This fundraiser for the Rangiora Stroke Association sees local people sponsored to jump into freezing cold water…jumpers include Waimak MP Matt Doocey and mayor David Ayers. See the Rangiora Promotions page for full list of jumpers. It all kicks off at 11am at Cenotaph Corner.
If you’re in Kaiapoi tomorrow morning then check out the weekly farmers market on Charles Street, opposite New World – 10am to 12 midday.
More music at the library on Saturday evening with the Te Koki Trio – piano, violin and cello. 7.30pm at the Chamber Gallery, Rangiora Library tickets are $30.
