Yes, it’s cold, but chuck on a coat and get out and enjoy some of the things on in the area this weekend.
This evening, Friday, is family night at Rangiora Library and it’s got a Dr Seuss theme. You have to book in advance so probably a bit late if you haven’t already done so – but could be worth a go – call the library on 03 311 8901. Alternatively, I noticed they are doing the same thing next week down at Kaiapoi Library on Friday 2nd July 5.30pm. So if your kids like Dr Seuss – get it booked by calling Kaiapoi Library on 03 375 5009.
Saturday sees a free Healtcare Expo at the Rangiora RSA lounge from 10am to 4pm. It’s all about alternative therapies from the look of it and there will be info on things like reiki, cranio, reflexology, etc. Could be interesting and admission is free.
Sunday morning you could head down to the Waikuku Beach Surf Lifesaving Club where they’re having their mid-winter swim. It kicks off at 11am and there’s also a sausage sizzle ($2).
Also on Sunday Rangiora Harness Club are having a race meeting at the track on Lehmans Road. It kicks off at 11am and general admission is free. I’ve never been, but I’ve heard it can be quite a fun outing.
In the afternoon there’s another concert on at the Chamber Gallery in Rangiora Library, good to see it getting lots of use lately. This time it’s a concert from Julia Holcroft’s piano students and it’s free. Starts at 2pm.
