It’s not often you get a chance to have an evening of wine and art out here in the country and this fundraiser for West Eyreton school sounds like it’ll be really interesting. So what can you expect?
Well, basically you get to taste a selection of wines from four different wineries around New Zealand – from Waipara to Hawkes Bay. And at the same time you get to view some of the art on display – this includes wire sculptures, more traditional paintings and works in copper.
They will also have a piece of art for auction from Patrick Edmonds who is a mouth painter. A diving accident many years ago rendered him a tetraplegic. He recently won a scholarship into the Mouth and Foot Association – an organisation that supports and encourages artists that only use mouths or feet and helps them towards their goals of becoming professional artists. Under the programme he says his passion for painting has flourished and he is currently experimenting with genres and mediums.
There will be other art works up for auction as well as works on display from five other artists.
It’s tough to come up with good event ideas for fundraising – but this looks like it could be a pleasant way to spend a chilly winter evening. So, if you’re at a loose end on Saturday get down to West Eyreton School Hall – grab a glass of wine and enjoy some art. It kicks off at the West Eyreton Hall at 7pm. You can buy tickets for $25 in advance or $30 on the night on the door. Check out the Last of the Winter Wine and Art Auction page on Facebook for more details.
