It’s a bit of a cloudy old day out there and if it doesn’t clear I’m not sure what that means for the open night at the Oxford Area Schools Observatory.   They have been advertising an open night tonight, Friday from 7pm to 10pm where the public can go along and look at some of the amazing sights in our night skies through their telescopes.  It sounds like it could be a lot of fun.  But cloud could put a stop to all that so if you’re thinking of heading along there this evening, check out the update on their website – apparently they will put something up around 7pm.  If it doesn’t happen tonight then there is a back up night which is tomorrow, Saturday – same time, same place.

Saturday sees the usual farmers market in Kaiapoi – 10am to midday in Charles Street across the road from New World.

On Saturday evening if you like fashion and/or art you might want to head out to Oxford for the Oxford Wearable Arts show.  They’re promising music, entertainment and costumes at the Oxford School GP Hall.  Adults $20 and students $10.

Sunday is the Oxford Speedway which kicks off at 11am with the ECO Metals C Grade Challenge.  $10 Adults, under 15s are free.

If you fancy something a bit quieter then head down to the Goodbye Winter Meet being held by the Rangiora Harness Racing Club at the racecourse on Lehmans Road.  First race will be 11am and admission is free.
